In search of Change...literally

The snow didn't even have time to melt.  It was just fiery hot in the blink of an eye- I think we both forgot how scorching Costa Rica's dry season is.  Funny, we have only been here 6 days and since we left Rhode Island they have had two snowstorms- the stuff is up to their waists in some places!  Yikes!
While I wish we got to surf a bit in Rhode Island for the novelty of it, boy was I ecstatic when the 80 degree water here lapped my toes.   Then I looked up to see two wct guys flinging themselves around at our favorite wave on this stretch of beach.  Since we arrived we were blessed with their presence and talent to film.   What made it even more special was to see how much fun they have out there.  It's funny, sometimes sponsored kids can seem so angry and negative and you wonder why they even bother.  But watching these guys was like watching a couple buddies go out on a sunday afternoon.   Big smiles, laughter, and amazing surfing.
I struggled with life a little this week.  When we left the states we thought we had enough to survive a month here before having to figure something out-  maybe building a website or something to get some more cash for rent and food.   But somehow we got here and hidden expenses drained our cash flow the way a clothes dryer can eat your socks.
After paying rent it has been a bleak looking future for food funds.    We literally had to scrounge our luggage for change to buy some more coffee and bananas and rice.   I love the irony, because we seek change in our lives-  change in our personalities, our abilities, our world; and apparently also the kind you can collect to buy food.
Still, we are here and we are trusting that something will allow us to stay. For the past six days we'd walk an hour up the beach and film and surf and walk back and edit and pass out.  the future? bring it on....
